Brenda McMahon and Tom Radca are proud to announce their first international Saggar firing, throwing & hand-building workshop in Tuscany, Italy in 2013 at La Meridiana School of Ceramics.
This 2 week workshop is open to students at all levels, those who have never touched clay before and those who have worked with it for any amount of time. The only requirement is a love of clay and a desire to see Tuscany!
La Meridiana, located in Certaldo, Italy, offers an exciting opportunity to get you hands in clay - make your artwork in Italy and use the materials of the land to fire the kilns! Imagine this, hand made tiles, or wheel thrown pots, wrapped in Italian grasses, or grapevines from Italy's northern region, and fired in a kiln, permanently recording your experience & travels.
During the morning there are lessons & studio time and In the afternoon you have the option to take day trips and go to the market to buy food. At night, you will be served a fully cooked meal, complete with wine for you to wind down and relax! You can spend as much or as little time in the studio, it's your choice.
Bring a spouse, friend or loved one...whether or not they love clay. Nearby there are opportunities for Italian cooking lessons and truffle hunting at Cucina Giuseppina. And then there are the day trips - to our local town, Certaldo and nearby Pisa, Florence, Firenze and Siena. All this, PLUS wine tasting; olive oil sampling & free transportation to nearby villages included in your fee. There are 14 clay spaces available and 24 total spaces. Deposits of 400 euro will be accepted by La Meridiana beginning December, 2012.
Consider this 'Creative Excursion' filled with clay from the land, collaboration with your peers and a love of all things Italian. It's going to be so much fun. Below are cost and descriptions - click the pictures for a slide show.
