La Meridiana will provide transportation to and from the train station for those taking the train from Pisa or Florence, as well as ground transportation during the workshop.

The flight in is dependent on your interests - will you arrive early and play for a few days before coming to the workshop...or do you want to get right there? Florence & Pisa are closest, but you may get a better price into Rome. Look at your options, then email LA MERIDIANA if you have specific questions.

Workshop Requirements: No experience is necessary - throwers & hand builders are encouraged - for this hands on workshop.

TOM RADCA has more than 30 years of clay experience and is best known for his loose, expressive & dynamic throwing style. Tom's platters range in size from 12" - 36" in diameter and his vessels are up to 5' tall. He can throw small & large and will teach you how to do that too.

If you're not a thrower, but want to try your hand at it, this workshop is for you! If you'd rather hand-build or make tiles, we welcome you to join us.

BRENDA MCMAHON has more than 16 years of ceramic experience & she brings her signature 'saggar firing' to Italy. Brenda will teach you how to throw refined and delicate forms & create a satin or textured surface on them. She will then open her toolbox of tricks on how to fire your work in an all-organic saggar kiln, using materials from the Italian landscape. Firing experience is not necessary, instead, students should have a penchant for exploration & surprise!
